A mentoring program with Dr Chris Dowling for In-season N monitoring 2024/25 cotton crop

The CottonMate mentoring program will enhance your understanding of nitrate N uptake in the cotton crop. Dr Chris Dowling will mentor this season’s group of participants by way of interactive webinars and in-season commentary, examine and discuss the cotton crops “rate” of nitrate N usage, and the crops responses to seasonal conditions. Plant tissue and petiole testing through Back Paddock’s CottonMate program provides interpreted results and an opportunity to review nitrogen management plans and strategies as the season progresses. In-season monitoring may provide insights into the progress of EEF’s in your program.

CottonMate is available through in Crown Laboratories for the Gwydir & Namoi Valleys and NutriLab for the Border Rivers.

CottonMate includes:

  • Nitrogen management guidance for agronomists & farmers through the season by way of ;
  • Three interactive group webinars on N management by Chris Dowling, scheduled at each major petiole sampling time. Recordings will be available to subscribers.
  • Scatter plot interpretation of current N status (Petiole Nitrate results) provided at each webinar, facilitating discussions on real-time nutrition management based on measurements.
  • Exclusive in-season commentary from Dr. Chris Dowling, including a group email with frequently asked Q&A.

  • $200, or free if you enrol before December 13

  • Participation in CottonMate requires use of Crown Analytical Services in Moree or NutriLab in Goondiwindi, for petiole & leaf blade testing thru Back Paddock. Read about the service here.
